Nidal Čelik, the promising local Bosnian gem

Nidal Čelik is a Bosnian centre back born in 2006, who since November is the captain of his team, FK Sarajevo. After the last market values, he reached the top three with a value of one million euros. In addition, he’s the best Bosnian as the other players in the top three are foreign players in a league that counts with a 42.1% of foreign players. He’s even one of the youngest players to feature in the Premijer Liga Bosne i Hercegovine, being exactly the eighth youngest in the league.

He's been a regular for the U-17 team since the 21/22 season when he played 29 matches out of 32 and only lost two matches where he played. That season FK Sarajevo U-17 went on a run of 18 games winning, they lost a match where Nidal Čelik didn’t play and went on to winning another three matches with him in the pitch.

The next season he was promoted to the U-19 side where he played 19 matches out of 26 and was in the starting lineup every one of them to crown as the U-19 champions of the league. He also played for Bosnia U-17 in the Euros qualifiers, they made it to the last round but failed to qualify.

In the season 23/24, he made a great step forward in his career and started playing for FK Sarajevo. He played 13 matches for the U-19 side and scored for the first time in his career adding up to six goals in total. He played eight matches as a starter for the first team and was subbed on two occasions. He played for Bosnia U-19 where he tried to qualify them to the Euros but failed again in the last round.

Now this season, he’s played 14 matches as a starter, and one subbed on for the first team with two assists so far. He also played in the Conference League qualifiers but failed to qualify in the second round. He’s even been called up for Bosnia ahead of the November matches of the Nations League but stayed in the bench in both matches. So, his debut for the National Team isn’t very far away, hopefully in the next nations break.

Nidal Čelik is a beast of a defender centred in not letting anyone pass and maintaining a clean sheet. He stands at 1,92 metres with just 18 years. Such an incredible talent shouldn’t go unnoticed to the eyes of big clubs across Europe.
