SCHALKE MATCHDAY 22: vs. KARLSRUHER

Schalke welcome Karlsruher to the VELTINS-Arena.
In the first leg Karlsruher defeated Schalke 2-0.
With a open roof for today's match
Schalke have yet to defeat Karlsruher in their meetings in the 2.Bundesliga (four defeats and three draws).
Today also marks the 50th appearance for Karaman in the 2.Bundesliga with 24 goals in total in that time.
The whistle blows and we are underway, and Schalke don't waste time.
In the 6th minute, Mohr crosses the ball from the left touch line and it travels through the box, Aydin misses making contact with the ball and it goes to the far side, where Bachmann runs in all alone and has time and space to calmly put the ball into the back of the net.
SCHALKE 1 - KARLSRUHER 0
Both teams are equal in their possession of the ball through 20mins.
Into the 25th minute and it will be another costly mistake from Schalke as Murkin loses the ball way to easily and Karlsruhe rush on the counter attack, and from a low cross that gets deflective by a Schalke player, Leon Jensen gets good contact on the ball and powers home a goal in the corner.
SCHALKE 1 - KARLSRUHER 1
Schalke would continue to bring the ball into the Karlsruhe box and in the 34th minute, Karaman takes a good shot and the ball is saved and knocked out for a Schalke corner. From the corner kick the ball gets to Kaminski who tries to feed the ball to new winter singing Pape Meissa Ba. Ba is able to get himself to the ball and pokes the ball through all the bodies in front of goal on the ground.
That is Ba's first goal in 2.Bundesliga.
SCHALKE 2 - KARLSRUHER 1
The match continues with no real chances for either side to the half time whistle.

The second half starts with no changes on either side,
Schalke continue to put pressure on Karlsruhe but even another attempt by Karaman at goal in the 49th minute is saved and into a corner kick for Schalke that does not result to much.
Another player debut for Schalke, has the Knappenschmiede player Zaid Tchibara is sub into the match for goal scorer Ba.
Schalke see a couple of counter attacks in the final 20 minutes get turned into nothing,
As Karlsruhe look to push for a tying goal, Schalke are able to clear most of their attempts.
The referee blows the whistle for full time and Schalke hold on to defeat Karlsruhe for the first time in the 2.Bundesliga.
The win gives Schalke 3 much needed points and has them leapfrog three teams to go now into 11th spot in the table 3pts behind 10th place Karlsruhe and now 7pts clear of the relegation zone.
Next up another Sunday match on the road to visit Darmstadt.
