The 2.Bundesliga Rückrunde kicks off and Schalke get the 2025 season underway.
Schalke travel to home side Eintracht Braunschweig.
In the first leg to open the season in August, Schalke took the 5-1 victory at home.
A few winter transfers sees two Schalke players sent on loan to Braunschweig, Lino Tempelmann, who is in the starting lineup today and keeper Ron - Thorben Hoffmann who is not in the line up today.
The whistle blows and we are underway

Even now well into second half Schalke have not had a shot on target even with all the possession and Braunschweig just with their one attempt from the first half.
A huge turn of events at the 67th minute, Jannis Nikolaou, pulls down Sylla who was broken free with a great through ball between the defenders.
Jannis grabs Sylla just outside the box and brings him down which has the referee very quickly showing the red card.
After the quick VAR review the call stands and at the 71st minute the free kick is finally taken and Seguin sends the ball over the crossbar from the penalty box line.
With Braunschweig now down to 10 men Schalke just continue to control the ball, but nothing to break the deadlock, Murkin has a good chance at the 78th minute but the ball is parries it away.
Braunschweig continue to defend with everything they got celebrating each good defensive cleaning like they scored a goal.
Schalke are trying to get the ball to Sylla, but all his chances especially all his headers are going wide of the net.
Even more Schalke worries in the 5th minute of time added as Murkin is taken down on the left side of the box, Kaufmann is shown the yellow card for the tackle but more serious is Murkin needs help off the pitch and can not put pressure on his right foot. ( reports are his ankle is injured)
Schalke continue to look for a winner, but it never comes and the final whistle blows and Schalke start 2025 with a nil nil draw.
But do gain a point and are still 9 points away from promotion and 7 points away from the relegation zone.
